Presented with hundreds of illustrations and paintings in Milo Manara's striking collection, Memory (Editions Paquet, 2001), it is a thankless task selecting a representative few.
The Italian artist's talents are so amazingly diverse.
Writes filmmaker Vincenzo Cerami in an afterword:
"Milo himself immediately understood that Eros cannot be sensed from a body sculpted in a vacuum. The beauty that triggers desire is the light that courses over a body, and immerses everything around it in twilight or passionate nights.

"Sexuality invades the entire space, clashing with all things harsh, lingering in the background. It conceals itself in bare nakedness.
"Manara often harks back to this past, to these flavors in order ultimately to represent the images of today's woman."
