fertISLE

Excuse my lack of posts, but I've been working on the last chapter of a three-years-in-the-makin doco (Diary of a Mongrel Dog) and feature (fertISLE) in New Zealand these past few weeks.

Although I brought movies with me, writing and filmmaking stuff have gotten in the way of viewing -- and reading.

fertISLE is right up my alley and is the type of movie that fills me with passion. The sea. Dolls. Isolation. A man against the elements. An incredible island for location shooting. Minimal dialog. Maximum contrast. Even a little perversion. It's been a tough shoot, but, hopefully, the results will entertain a few people.

Below are a selection of frame grabs.

Enjoy!

  1. Hey Mark. Hope you're in better spirits from the last time I heard from you. The stills look fantastic. A beautiful island, dolls, and perversion--I know that's project was literally begging for your touch!

Phantom, this post was published on the 56th anniversary of Jimmy Dean snuffing it, it was also Tammy O`Rourke's 40th birthday, i just wish her little sister was still alive as well.

  3. I hope you're feeling better too Phantom! I haven't heard from you in so long, even if I leave comments. I can surely understand you are busy though, the same thing happens to me. I get busy and don't post and then try to play catch up. I hope all goes well with you! I want to thank you for helping bring some numbers to my blogspot and for your support you have given. I envy you because you get to write for a living and you are awesome! Hope to hear from you soon. Happy Halloween! BTW the pictures are indeed strange and I can't even imagine a movie like this! Maybe I'll see it sometime. ♥

  4. Phantom, I miss your comments on my blogs but I know you're busy! You sound very busy! I wish I was as good as writer as you are and good luck with all of your projects. The movie you talk about sounds good and makes me curious. Hope all is well with you and you are getting all the "pulp" you need. Visit me again sometime. Big hug! ♥

  5. Bekkie -- Thanks for all your messages. Please excuse my slow replies. I'm back now, so intend to redress past sins.

    Your comments are too kind.

My movie, fertISLE, will be edited half way through next year (at the latest!), so I'll keep you informed about release details and screenings.

Just checked out your latest blog posts, too, and left some comments.

  7. Paul -- thank you! Yes, shot on EX1 with my usual compliment of filters, reflectors, mirrors, etc. Frame grabs are straight off BPAV's with no tweaking.
