The Scum Are Cumming Soon

Finally, after two years of shooting, POND SCUM is nearing the finishing line.

Thanks to a talented, dedicated cast, and devoted 'crew', this challenging cinematic odyssey will soon leave its creative womb and slither forth into the world.

Hopefully, those who enjoyed films of mine such as MARAUDERS and the BEYOND THE PALE (aka PENETRATORS) series will find something to like here.

Pond Scum (The New Trailer)

POND SCUM (pre-release trailer) from CineNature on Vimeo.

POND SCUM is approaching the finish line.

A dedicated cast and crew (Renae Boult, Ward Boult, Dawna Lee Heising, Vida Gaffari, Paul Fanning, Marc Edward Heuck, Jacqui Fanning)  have made this bastard of a project possible.

I appreciate the unreasonable level of commitment from all.

POND SCUM is what I'd loosely call ero-horror, its emphasis being on sociopaths and the consequences of their pursuits. Some of those pursuits are darkly erotic, others are completely insane ventures into places no man or woman should go -- not if they expect to return unscathed.

The film is dedicated to my dear Japanese friend and fellow filmmaker Tomoaki Hosoyama, whose influence and friendship have been priceless and unique.

Righting Wrongs Via Mutilation (Pond Scum)

The Pond Scum (CineNature; 2013) shoot is coming to end.

This past weekend, force of nature Renae Boult finally addressed a very murky chapter in her character's checkered life.

It was definitely 'Ladies' Day' on the Pond Scum set, and these ladies finally faced a rather shocking truth about their pasts.

More than a year in the making, the film has been blessed with stellar performances from Renae Boult, Paul Fanning, Ward Boult, Vida Gaffari, Jacqui Fanning, and the indefatigable Marc Edward Heuck

The POND SCUM Folio

I haven't posted a lot lately as I've been knee-deep in the final shoots of my next-to-be-released feature Pond Scum.

After more than a year of protracted and challenging shooting, it's coming together very nicely and I'm pretty happy with how what I conceived is being translated to the screen.

The film's amazing case -- Renae Boult, Ward Boult, Paul Fanning, Marc Edward Heuck, Dawna Lee Heising, and Vida Gaffari -- have been exceptional partners in the process of bringing this twisted tale to the screen.

Don't Kow-Tow To The Noise

Two years in the making, my film Pond Scum nears completion.

Truly a collaborative effort, it has grown and morphed and mutated like a living organism into something that is, strangely enough, about the nature of creativity.

What I like most about filmmaking is the evolution of each project, and how the subject matter brings the like-minded together.

Frankly, I make films based on what fires me up. I make films with budgets and without budgets. There is always a way. That's what being creative is. Finding a way. Finding your own way. And ignoring the noise of negativity, envy, those projecting their own insecurities onto you, and those kow-towing to convention.

I have no illusions about Pond Scum's fate beyond completion.

It is dedicated to cinema's great revolutionary, Koji Wakamatsu, who may spin in his grave when he sees it. Who knows!?

POND SCUM Trailer (HD)

Indie filmmaking is about persistence.
A large dose of psychotic optimism doesn't hurt, either.
I'm grateful for the stellar human beings who are taking this tough journey with me. You all know who you are.
Despite the fact that Pulp IS a way of life, I'd be careful who I recommend it to.

A Little Fangorian Support

Fangoria are exclusively running the trailer for my second new feature, Pond Scum, this week.

As a reader since Issue #1 (the one with the Godzilla cover), I'm humbled.

Pond Scum

As production ramps up and the light at the end begins to glow, I thought I'd share these screen captures from my new feature Pond Scum. It's been shooting for a while now in Los Angeles and will be completed by year's end and ready for distribution.

It stars the indefatigable and extraordinary Renae Boult as a woman who hitchhikes to LA with a list of terrible scores to settle.

Harboring a fatal secret and dispensing with the social pressures one encounters as a woman, she aims to right many wrongs and achieve a simple, eternal goal.

Unfortunately, standing between her are various ambassadors of human garbage.

But nothing will prepare our heroine for her first meeting with the man who will change her life forever and enable her true nature.
